Community Connections @ Midtown MacPark

Mission Australia is interested in hearing from local community members who are interested in getting involved at Midtown MacPark as a community volunteer.

We are currently recruiting Community Connection Volunteers to promote a sense of belonging, help residents connect with others in their community and provide practical support as they establish themselves in their new home and community.

Specific activities will depend on the interest areas, skills and availability of each volunteer and may include:

• Welcoming residents including helping with welcome events
• Engaging residents in informal activities such as walking groups, crafts or picnics
• Providing practical support to residents as they settle into Midtown including unpacking boxes, basic assembly of furniture and orienting themselves to the building and local community.

We are seeking volunteers who are willing to be a part of the Midtown community over a period of time

• Commitment will be agreed with individual volunteers
• Shifts are available 10:30-2pm, Mon-Thu.
• A minimum 3 month commitment is ideal

Who can volunteer

We are keen to hear from people who:

• Have a strong interest in seeing their local community thrive
• Have good people skills, non- judgemental, good listener and empathy to understand others needs
• Have good practical skills to help residents problem solve and complete practical tasks

• Contact us to discuss your interest and we will arrange a time to meet with you to discuss further and can share a position description with you.
• Consider what commitment you might be able to offer
• If you would like to proceed, we will invite you to fill out the applicant’s declaration at the bottom of the position description and provide you with details to complete background checks.

Once the application process is complete we will provide you with an induction and orientation to Mission Australia including a Workplace, Health & Safety briefing, and the training required to carry out the role.

To become a volunteer you will need to undergo a number of background checks including Mandatory National Police History Check, Working with Children Check and Personal reference check.
